Sycons
Sycons are very similar animals to Asconoid sponges. Sycons reproduce both sexually and asexually. Although, we do see the process of evolution take place here because sycon sponges reproduce sexually a lot more often than just the basic sponge. The sycon sponge is a monoecious species, meaning that it can cross-fertilize. This organism may seem primitive because there are no distinct sex organs. But sperm and ovas are produced by the mesenchyme. In these sponges, the sperm cells are released into the ocean and amazingly find their was to the other sponge (usually female) and enter to fertilize the egg.
