Snails
Snails are considered to be mostly hermaphrodites, so they contain both male and female reproductive organs. However, I found it very interesting that all marine snails have two sexes (male and female) and all terrestrial (land) snails are hermaphrodites. All snails are considered mature enough to reproduce by the time they are one year old. The reproductive organs in snails are located on their side, near the top of the body. This location allows for easier ability to mate and grow baby snails. A snail is known to carry up to one-hundred eggs at a time. When the eggs are fertilized, they start an internal growth process. It will typically be four weeks before the eggs hatch.
